Chris Nelson is an Oregon Certified Home Inspector (OCHI #1658) and Certified Pest and Dry Rot Inspector (License #1035095). He's earned a Bachelor degree in Philosophy from Salisbury University, and both Bachelor and Master degrees in Civil Engineering from Portland State University.
With over 14 years of construction experience and an extensive educational background in modern building science, Chris has a comprehensive understanding of homes inside and out. Over the years, he has built new homes from the ground up, remodeled old Portland classics, managed large construction projects, and built custom handmade furniture.
Chris decided to become a licensed home inspector in 2013 to combine his practical construction experience and the love of teaching, to help homeowners understand and feel comfortable with the largest purchase of their lives. He volunteers his time to Engineers Without Borders, designing clean water delivery and filtration systems, and as a Head Coach at the non-profit Saints Soccer Academy.
Ken is an Oregon Certified Home Inspector (OCHI #1975), with extensive experience in home building and remodeling, commercial construction, and commercial/industrial building maintenance management. He is a US Air Force veteran and earned a Bachelor degree in business management from George Fox University. Ken is certified by the US and State of Oregon Departments of Energy as Home Energy Assessor, and is a qualified participant through Earth Advantage to perform City of Portland Home Energy Assessments.
Ken is a member of The American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists (AARST) and is certified through the National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP). In addition to Radon measurement certification, he is certified with the International Association of Certified Indoor Air Consultants (IAC2), and qualified to perform laboratory certified mold sample collections. Ken’s building science education and training includes US EPA 608 refrigeration and air conditioning certification.
Having known Chris for nearly twenty years, Ken jumped at the opportunity to share Chris’ vison and work with him again in the home inspection industry.
